Neil Harold Zimmer

Neil Harold Zimmer, 82 of Lincoln passed away April 17, 2015. Neil was born in Davenport on March 27, 1933 to Fred E. and Ethel L. (Gemmel) Zimmer. Neil and Corrine C. graduated from Hallam High School and were married July 13, 1952 in Hallam. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 as a corporal in the 1st Medical Group in Germany.

Neil worked as an electronic technician for AT&T for 30 years, after retiring formed his own electronic repair business. He was a commander of Hallam American Legion Post 294 and a member of 40 and 8 in Lincoln. He was a long-time member of St. Marks United Methodist Church, Lincoln. Five years after the death of his first wife, Neil married Dellene Joyce Miller on May 31, 2014.

Survivors: wife, Dellene; sons, Steve (Wendy), Tom (Susan), and daughter Lynette (Bob) Boyce; stepchildren Janelle (Randy) Anderson, Judy (Kevin) Welch, and Doug (Laura) Miller; grandchildren Kyra (Brian) Colson, Michael Forney, Megan (Wes) Baldwin, many step-grandchildren, and several great grandchildren; brother Larry, sisters Shirley Maynard, Kay Rosonke, and Mary Lou Bolton. Preceded in death by first wife Corrine, brothers Kenneth, Bob, and Don, & sister Dorothy Bomberger, Irene Kieborz & Joann Zimmer.

Visitation: 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday, April 23, at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 South 14 Street.

Service: 11 A.M. Friday, April 24, at St. Marks United Methodist Church, 8550 Pioneers Blvd Lincoln.

Interment: Lincoln Memorial Park.

Memorials: To American Legion Post 294, Hallam or St. Marks


Neil was an electronic technician at the plant. He retired, 6 Jun 1981.
