Silver Creek -- Robert A. Szymanek, 70 of Irving died Thursday (Aug. 18, 2011) at his residence, surrounded by his family.

He was born Feb. 28 1941 in Buffalo, dearest son of the late Stanley and Mary (Baginski) Szymanek.

Bob worked for Western Electric and retired from Lucent Technologies as an electrician.

He love working with wood and was an avid sportsman who like to fish. His favorite teams were the Buffalo Bills and the Buffalos Sabres. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 0148, Silver Creek and te Sunset Bay Firemen's Auxiliary.

He was the beloved husband of Rowena (Tina) Szymanek of Silver Creek whom he married Sept. 3, 1971; loving father of Brian (Theresa) Szymanek of Silver Creek; grandfather of Ana and Ian Szmanek; brother of Theresa (Raymond) Holewinski of Hamburg; Pearl (Sam) Assad of Buffalo and Arthur Szymanek of Sunset Bay. Nieces and nephews Dave, Patty and Chris Holewinski; Samantha, Mike, Xavier and Jonathan Assad; and Beth, Paul and Matt Penner also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Victor Szymanek.

Prayers will be held Monday, Aug. 22, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. form the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel in Silver Creek, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Silver Creek. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. The family will be present Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.


Bob was an electrician for Western Electric & Lucent Technologies.
