Richard T. Serp

Serp, Richard T. 'Dick'
7 Apr 1942 - 6 Mar 2016

Richard T. (Dick) Serp of Omaha, Nebraska died on March 6, 2016. He is survived by his wife Sally (Stessman) and three children from his first marriage: Richard T. Serp Jr., Patti Ann Schnieder (Kent), and Robert A. Serp (Lynn); seven grandchildren; brother, Edward A. Serp III (Margaret); and stepsister, Barbara Wichart (Bob).

He was born in Baltimore, Maryland on April 7, 1942. He attended Baltimore City Schools until age 11, then attended McDonogh Military Boarding School, completing twelfth grade and graduating in 1960. He was a senior officer and lettered multiple years in both football and baseball. After graduating from the University of Baltimore, he went to work for Black and Decker. He then worked for thirty years with Western Electric, transferring to Omaha in 1983 and retiring in 1998 from Lucent.

He was an avid baseball fan and continued to follow the Baltimore Orioles even in Omaha. One of his major passions was playing golf daily for years. His greatest happiness, though, was his family, especially his seven grandchildren, all of whom called him "Pop Pop."

Visitation: Friday, March 11th, from 5-7 P.M. at the Rockbrook United Methodist Church, 9855 W. Center Rd.

Services: March 12th at 10:30 A.M. at the Rockbrook United Methodist Church.

Interment: Resurrection Cemetery.

Memorials: Directed by the family.
