Walter Onisk

Walter Onisk, 82 years of age, of R. Adams passed away at his home Tuesday night July 8, 2014. He was born on December 28, 1931 in Sloan, NY to Stanley and Constance (Graczyk) Onisk Sr. He was a graduate of Depew High School in Depew, NY and attended college for 2 years. Walter served his country in the United State Air Force from April 23, 1952 until April 22, 1956 as Staff Sargent. He and Lucille "Lucia" Jagodzinski were married on September 19, 1953 in Buffalo, NY, and had lived in Omaha for 36 years before moving near Adams in 2012. Walter had been employed by AT&T as an Electrical Engineer. He was a member of the St. James Catholic Church in Cortland, NE and the Omaha American Legion. Walter enjoyed motorcycle riding, fixing things around the house and cars, and gardening.

Survivors include his wife Lucille "Lucia"; daughter Dawn Buss and husband Steven of Adams; son Dale Onisk and girlfriend Ann of Maryland; 6 grandchildren; and sister Helen Onisk of New York. He was preceded in death by his parents Stanley and Constance (Graczyk) Onisk Sr; and one brother.

Visitation: No visitation.

Services: Saturday, July 12, 2014, 10:30 A.M. at the St. James Catholic Church in Cortland with Father Leo Seiker officiating. A Rosary will be held at 10:00 A.M. prior to the services.

Interment: Inurnment will be at the Highland Cemetery, Adams, NE.

Memorials: The family's choice with the funeral home in charge.


Walter was in the 50 building engineering. He retired, July 1, 1994.
