Charles Franklin Mellick

Charles Franklin Mellick was born on a farm near Meadow Grove, NE on January 2, 1934, the son of George and Mary Mellick. He died September 10, 2014 at the Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Mary Jo Nelson and niece, Jo Ellen Nelson.

He married Mary Jo Hupp in Norfolk, NE on June 23, 1957. She survives him as do their three children and their families. Mark Mellick and wife, Carol, and their daughters, Sarah (Jake) Svacina and Allison Mellick; David (Kathy) Mellick and their children Storm Mellick, Rowan Mellick, Austin Schoonover and Mollie Schoonover; Amy (Luke)Barker and their children, Noah, Zachary, MaryBeth, Mark, Lily and Jonah Barker. He is also survived by two great granddaughters, Vivian Svacina and Noelle Schoonover.

Chuck was a graduate of Battle Creek, NE High School. He served four years in the United States Air Force. He was employed by Western Electric (Lucent) for over 35 years. A Charter Member of King of Kings Lutheran Church, his happiest times were when he was spending time with his family. He enjoyed traveling and bicycling on area trails.

The past years he lived at the Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home, and his wife and family want to express their thanks for the excellent, loving care he received there.

Visitation: Monday, September 15, 10:00 A.M. prior to the service at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 11615 I Street, Omaha.

Services: Monday, September 15, 11:00 A.M. at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 11615 I Street, Omaha.

Interment: Private Inurnment Prospect Hill Cemetery, Norfolk, NE.


Charles was a cable former in PBX and the 50 building. He retired, December 5, 1991.
