Harold "Jim" McEvoy, age 80, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2011, at his home. He was born in Council Bluffs on October 16, 1930, to Dennis H. and Florence G. Ruberg McEvoy and a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School. Jim served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and worked for Western Electric-AT&T from 1959 to 1989 as a pipe fitter. He was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Pioneers and also was a former Boy Scout Leader. Survivors include his wife of 56 years Delores (Swanson) McEvoy, of Council Bluffs; son, Jeff McEvoy and wife, Randi, of Harlan, Iowa; grandchildren and spouses, Michelle Plumb (Paul), of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Christie Knudson (Jack), of Irwin, Iowa, Rachel Aten (David), of Blair, Neb., Robyn Carter, of Omaha, Neb., Brad and Matthew McEvoy, of Council Bluffs; 5 great grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Darwin Swanson (Lynn), of Elk Horn, Iowa, Jan Holtz (Dick), of Walnut, Iowa; nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Visitation with family, Sunday, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Funeral services Monday, 11 a.m. all at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Pastor Robert Abbott, officiant. Luncheon will follow immediately at St. Mark's United Methodist Church. Interment Kimballton, Iowa at 2:30 p.m. with cortege leaving St. Mark's at 1:30 p.m. for cemetery. Military rites at grave. Family will direct memorials.


Jim was a pipefitter at the plant until his retirement in 1989.
