William "Bill" Lester Lockhart age 88 of Omaha, NE formerly of Plattsmouth, NE, peacefully passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Bergan Mercy Medical Center in Omaha.

Bill was born on January 13, 1928 to Garland R. and Frances Eugena (Lester) Lockhart in Nebraska City, NE. He was raised and schooled in Plattsmouth, NE and graduated from Plattsmouth High School. He enlisted in the US Army and served his country during WWII. After serving his country, he worked on various construction jobs. He met Imogene "Jean" Howard and they were later married on July 12, 1952 in Glenwood, IA. Bill and Jean made their home in Plattsmouth and later in Omaha, where they raised their children. Bill worked in Omaha as an electrician for thirty one years at Western Electric and later at AT&T, until he retired on November 22, 2003.

He was a member of American Legion Post #374 of Millard, NE and Plattsmouth Masonic Lodge #6 A.F. and A.M.

William is survived by his daughter: Karen Lockhart-Jordan of Omaha, NE; son: Roger Lockhart of Omaha, NE; three grandchildren: Nick Vodicka, Amy (Corey) Copple, and Travis (Shari) Lockhart; five great grandchildren: Ashley Thrasher, Jayden Copple, Frankie Copple, Coleten Copple, and Sara Lockhart; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Garland and Frances Lockhart, two brothers: Wilfred Lockhart and Wayne Lockhart, and his wife: Jean Lockhart.

Services: A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Plattsmouth with Pastor Michael Lincoln officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #374 and V.F.W. Post #8334 Honor Guard of Millard, NE.

Interment: Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, next to his wife Jean.

Memorials: The family suggests memorials to donor's favorite charity.


Bill retired from the plant, 17 Nov 1989.
