Michael Lee Lewis of Omaha, NE passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at his residence.

Mike was born on November 30, 1937 to Orville Monroe and Ermal Alice (Erwin) Lewis in Nebraska City, NE. He lived in California with his family until age seven, when they moved to Plattsmouth, NE. Mike graduated from Plattsmouth High School with the class of 1957. After graduating from high school, he began working for Western Electric in Omaha and later he moved to Council Bluffs, IA. In 1961 Mike moved to Millard, NE, and then in 1991, he moved to Omaha. Mike worked for the Cable Division of Western Electric, rising to the position of layout operator. He met Ida Irene Lowry and they later married on April 3, 1994 in Las Vegas, NV. Mike retired in 1997, after thirty nine years of employment at Western Electric.

He is survived by his wife: Ida Lewis of Omaha, NE; son: Jason Lewis and wife Melissa of Decatur, AL; two daughters: Cindy Rutledge and husband Kevin of Rock Port, GA; Vicki Reed and husband Doug of Omaha, NE; step son: Todd Arehart of Omaha, NE; two step daughters: Peggy Arehart of Omaha, NE; Belinda Rankin of Omaha, NE; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; his sister: Carol Gannon and husband Donald of Greeley, CO; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Orville and Ermal Lewis, three brothers: Melvin, Robert, and Eugene Lewis, and three sisters: Dorothy Gilland, Maxine Wertley, and Joan Cole.

Visitations: 1:00 to 9:00 P.M. with family greeting relatives and friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Friday, April 6, 2018 at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth.

Service: 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Roby Funeral Home.

Interment: Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth, NE.

Memorials: The Family suggests memorials to the Humane Society.


Mike worked in the cable plant. He retired in 1997, with 39 years of service.
