Eva Mae Lessig

Eva M. Lessig, 89 of Grand Island, formally of Fremont, died on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Bickford Cottage. .

Eva was born on March 25, 1925 at Grand Island, daughter of John and Amanda (Kruse) Lessig.

Those left to cherish her memory are her brothers and sisters, Robert (Sherrill) Lessig of Grand Island, John (Wyllie) Lessig of Grand Island, Arnold (Margie) Lessig of Fremont, Donald (Kate) Lessig of Lexington, Merle (Joyce) Lessig of York, Marilyn Paustian of Grand Island, and Delores (Harold) Langenheder of Grand Island; sister-in-law, Eva Lessig; along with many nieces and nephews; she is also survived by her precious cats, Little Cute and Baby.

Eva is preceded in death by her parents, brother and sister-in-law, Harold (Patsy) Lessig and brother, Raymond Lessig.

She grew up in Grand Island and was the oldest of ten children. Eva attended St. John’s Lutheran School. Following school she was employed by the ordinance plant, and worked as a waitress in Grand Island. She then moved to Fremont where she was employed by Western Electric in Omaha for 20 years until her retirement.

Eva was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening and taking care of her flowers. She took pride in doing all of her own home renovations and loved to entertain her friends and family. Eva was also a skilled seamstress.

Services: A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 26 at All Faiths Funeral Home. Dan Naranjo will officiate.

Memorials: Suggested to the Dodge County Humane Society, because of Eva’s love for her cats.
