Darrel W. Jensen, 81, of Omaha, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2015.

Darrel was born in Council Bluffs, IA, to Vernon and Dorothy (Hough) Jensen. Darrel grew up in Iowa in a farming family and served in the Army in Germany from 1954-56 before meeting his wife Janice (Cook) in Omaha, NE, at a dance. They married at St. Peter’s Catholic Church on June 25, 1960. Darrel spent 38 and a half years working for Western Electric. As an avid lover of the National Park Service, Darrel took his family on many summer camping trips and winter ski trips to the Colorado Rocky Mountains.

Darrel is preceded in death by his parents.

Darrel is survived by Janice, his wife of almost 55 years, sons Brian (Gail Allbery) Jensen, Dan (Kea) Jensen, Steve (Catherine) Jensen and Pat (Stephanie) Jensen all of Omaha, NE; sister, Joan (Mel) Kruger and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Special thanks to the staff at Maple Crest Health Center for taking care of our “Blue Eyes”.

Visitation: Monday, May 25, 5 - 7 P.M., Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5701 Center St., Omaha NE.

Services: Tuesday, May 26, 10 - 12 A.M., St. Robert Bellarmine Parish, 11802 Pacific St, Omaha, NE.

Memorials: Directed by the family.


Darrel worked in test set maintenance in the 50 building. He retired, 1 Mar 1996.
