Harold H. 'Dick' Dickman Jr., was born to Harold Sr. and Marion (Nielson) Dickman in Omaha, Nebraska. Harold was raised on a farm east of Woodbine, IA. Harold attended Sunny Glenn Country School and graduated from Woodbine High School in 1963. He married Cheryl Patten of Portsmouth, Iowa on September 24, 1966, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. Harold was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He worked for Avaya Telephone Company for 40 years. He was a member of the Nebraska National Guard from 1966 to 1971.

Harold enjoyed spending time with family, especially teasing and spoiling his grandchildren. His hobbies included hunting, (particularly deer), fishing, and going to garage sales/auctions to get the “best deal”. He was a very generous person who took care of everyone. Harold was the “neighborhood grandpa”.

Harold passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at CHI Health in Missouri Valley, Iowa at the age of 72. Harold is preceded in death by his parents and brother Richard Dickman.

Survivors include his wife Cheryl Dickman of Missouri Valley, Iowa, children: Lori Colberg (Gary) of Palm Coast, Florida, Brian Dickman (Paula) of Missouri Valley, IA. Lisa Frideres (Jeff) of Humboldt, Iowa, sisters: Kathy Bielenberg (Virgil), Diana Mann (Keith), “Alice” Jean Hansen (Steve), brothers: David Dickman, and Danny Dickman (Debi), nine grandchildren, one great grandchild, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Visitation: Thursday, 5:30 - 7:30 P.M.. with a rosary at P.M., St. Patrick Catholic Church in Missouri Valley, Iowa.

Services: Friday, 10:30 A.M., January 27, 2017, St. Patrick Catholic Church, Missouri Valley, Iowa. The family would like to invite everyone to a time of fellowship and lunch following the service at the St. Patrick Catholic Church.
